Ozone Therapy Treats Hepatitis C

Jim Mandelin was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a liver infection often caused by hypodermic needles and alcohol abuse.

After nearly forty years of self-destructive behaviour, a dire diagnosis motivated Jim Mandelin to get his life in order. The child of an abusive household, Jim left home at age fifteen. He lived on the streets, and fell into the trap of drug abuse and prostitution. When he was twenty-two, a police officer told him, that he should be dead. Realizing that he would rather be alive than dead, Jim checked himself into detox. Years later, a single father struggling to run a business, Jim’s past came back to haunt him. He was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, a liver infection often caused by hypodermic needles and alcohol abuse.

Jim’s disease made him tired and listless. His son Seth remembers, "I would come home sometimes during the day and my dad would be home. I’d come home from school afterwards and he’d still be lying there." Jim’s doctor told him that his only hope was a liver transplant, but Jim wanted a healthier alternative. He says, "I just felt that there’s got to be some other way than cutting me open."

At a Canadian Liver Foundation workshop, Jim learned about ozone therapy. Oxygen normally appears in the environment as a double atom molecule O-2. Ozone is created by electrically discharging energy to add a third atom (O-3). As the O-3 degenerates into its natural state, the extra oxygen atom will grab electrons from surrounding cells. This property allows ozone to kill bacteria. Oxygen therapies have been popular in Europe for over one hundred years, but have only recently gained popularity in North America. Jim ozonated his drinking water, and after researching oxygen therapy, began adding small amounts of hydrogen peroxide, which has the same effect, to his water.

In addition to ozone therapy, Jim followed a diet of organically grown food and took supplements containing antioxidant vitamins to balance his increased oxygen intake. He felt himself growing stronger. He says, "it’s unbelievable. I mean I feel better than I did when I was in my twenties and when I first got clean." Jim felt energetic enough to go back to school and receive his diploma in Psychology and Social Work. Although there’s no cure for Hepatitis C, today Jim and his family are working hard together to overcome Jim’s years of abuse. He says, "I don’t want to let anybody believe that there’s this silver bullet out there. It is a lot of work, and it took a lot of work to damage me."
