Kevin
Jones loves to be active. He grew up on a horse farm and has been
riding for his entire life. He impressed his wife, Ann, with his
energy and enthusiasm. However, five years after his marriage, Kevin
started to feel sick. He says, "I was finding that I was starting
to get lethargic and fatigued . . . I started to get sick a lot."
Kevin began to experience pain in and around his kidneys. Initially,
it felt like a muscle spasm.
As Kevins pain increased, he began to experience other bothersome
symptoms. His wife Anne explains, "Kevin had asthma and he
had high blood pressure and he had gout and tiredness. He couldnt
sleep at night." Kevin also suffered from severe diarrhea.
His doctor prescribed him an inhaler for his asthma and anti-biotics
to treat his symptoms. Despite these treatments, Kevin continued
to gain weight and suffer from severe pain. Eventually, he was diagnosed
with polycystic kidney disease, a hereditary condition in which
cysts form on the kidneys, causing them to grow to nearly twice
their normal size. Symptoms include chronic pain, urinary tract
infections, fever, and high blood pressure. After his diagnosis,
Kevin sought help from many specialists. However, all he received
was more medication. Meanwhile, his symptoms worsened. Anne became
increasingly concerned about his health. She recalls, "[the
doctors] shrugged their shoulders and said Im sorry, we dont
know what else we can do for you. I thought, I cant just let
you get sicker and sicker and die without trying to fight it."
After seeing a book about allergies at a friends house, Anne
encouraged Kevin to see a naturopathic doctor.
Kevin visited Dr. Bruce Lofting, who
suspected that Kevin was allergic to some foods in his diet.
Kevin visited Dr. Bruce
Lofting, who suspected that Kevin was allergic to some foods in
his diet. He also thought that Kevin was probably suffering from
an overgrowth of yeast. Kevin eliminated wheat, dairy, sugar, and
processed food from his diet. Within three weeks, Kevin was feeling
much better. His upset stomach was gone, his blood pressure lowered,
and his asthma symptoms cleared. Today, Kevin takes calcium and
magnesium supplements and continues with his healthy diet. He still
has polycystic kidney disease, but many of the symptoms that doctors
suspected were related to the disease were in fact a result of Kevins
allergies. Kevin says, "I feel like I got a second chance.
I felt that the conventional way had run out of ideas . . . Life
is back. Im healthy. Im very happy."
