Naturopathic doctors and other alternative practitioners are embracing Vega testing, a method which detects the body’s bio-electrical flows and determines responses to possibly allergenic substances. The roots of Vega testing go back 2,000 years to ancient China.

What is Vega testing?

Vega testing uses the body’s energy or Qi to determine areas of sickness and health. The meridians along which the body’s energy move, terminate in the fingers and toes. Acupuncture taps into these meridians to clear energy blockages. Vega testing measures the levels of energy at the ends of meridians to determine what substances irritate the body.

How will I know what substances block my energy flow?

During Vega testing, an electrode (also called an ampule) is pressed against a finger. An electrical voltage counter measures the electrical energy being produced by the body. The testing machine, called an Electrical Acupuncture of Vohl or EAV, contains a honeycomb area. Inside this area the practitioner places the substance to be tested. The EAV measures the body’s electrical response to each item inside the machine. Negative energy responses indicate an intolerance to the food or substance in the machine.

What kinds of information can Vega testing provide?

In addition to information about food allergies, Vega testing can determine which organs of the body may be out of balance. Organ testers connected in a circuit with the body conduct the energy of each particular organ. As well, Vega testing can be used to determine which herbal remedies may be valuable.

Is Vega testing painful?

Vega testing is completely non-invasive. The electrode used in the test is lightly placed on the finger. The patient may sit back and relax during the test.
